PBR Fishing Tournament at Avon Fishing Pier

November 7-9 the Avon Fishing Pier will be open around the clock for the first annual PBR Classic- Red & Blue Fishing Tournament.

The tournament will focus on Red Drum and Blue Fish and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in each category.

Entry to the tournament is $90 per person or $60 per person for annual pier pass holders. To enter the tournament, visit the Avon Pier or AvonFishingPier.com to fill out the entry form and pay the entry fee. 63 people will be allowed to enter the tournament.

The PBR Classic will also feature a raffle. All funds raised through the raffle will go to the “T Fund,” which is a fundraising initiative to rebuild in the infamous “T” on the end of the Avon Fishing Pier.

Day at the Docks 2014

Day at the Docks was started to celebrate the “Spirit of Hatteras” when the village recovered from Hurricane Isabel in 2003 as an intact community, anchored by the commercial and charter fishermen.  The weekend long event is a confirmation of the strength of community, heritage and living traditions of the waterman.  Come stay with us September 18th-September 20th and join the many festivities from island history, childrens’ activities, a chowder cook off and many other fun festive things are planned!  Lots of entertainment for the young to mature!

NC Mountains To Coast Bicycle Route Passes Through Buxton

The 16th annual ride, 450 miles (60-70 miles per day) scheduled Sept. 27-Oct. 4 2014, will begin in Sparta with overnight stops in Mount Airy, Reidsville, Oxford, Roanoke Rapids, Edenton, Manteo, and then finish in Hatteras Village. More than 1,000 bicyclists from 35 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada participated in last year’s ride. This year should be even bigger.

5k. The event will be held on May 4, 2013 @ 9:30 am at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and all

Beach Klub announces 2013 concert series

Koru Village’s Beach Klub will open for its second season on May 20 with a full summer schedule, including the Beach Klub’s concert series.

The venue will bring a variety of genres to Cape Hatteras, some musicians visiting the island for the first time and others returning to play at the PapaWack Theatre for their second year. The PapaWack Theatre is North Carolina’s only oceanfront theater of its kind.

“We hope to see all our friends and fans at Koru’s Beach Klub this summer on Aug. 8. It is our first ever performance on Hatteras Island, so we know it will be extra special,” said Al Anderson from The Original Wailers.

“The Embers had a great time last year on Hatteras Island at the Beach Klub and met lots of new fans and friends! We look forward to this year’s show on July 18 which should be bigger and better,” said founding member of The Embers, Bobby Tomlinson.

Tickets to the Beach Klub’s concert series will be available at Koru Village at the end of April.

The Beach Klub will host two other weekly summer events, The Avon Luau and Teen Night. On Tuesdays, The Avon Luau will feature live entertainment, traditional island food, drinks, and an open pool for the entire family to enjoy. On Wednesdays, Teen Night will feature live DJ music, games, snacks, and more.
