
Fishing Report
Hatteras island's forty miles of beaches are world renowned for surf fishing, including "Cape Point" where huge numbers of citation fish are caught every year.
Spring season usually starts mid to late March with Big Bluefish and Channel Bass (Red Drum). April brings warmer water with Trout, Puppy Drum, Sea Mullet and smaller (Tailor) Blues followed by Pompano, Spanish Mackerel and Spot in the summer.
Fall season begins when the ocean temperature drops and sloughs fill with Puppy Drum, Grey Trout, Croaker, Flounder and Sea Mullet followed by larger Channel Bass, Big Blues and Speckled Trout.
Charter boats based on Hatteras Island have one of the East Coast's shortest runs to the Gulf Stream providing more fishing and less riding time. Besides boasting reasonable rates and experienced charter captains, Hatteras offers variety: Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Dolphin, King Mackerel, Albacore, Yellow-fin Tuna, etc.
